Companies are becoming increasingly concerned with the increase in fuel prices and the impact that their activity is having on the environment. AMEN has developed the new "ECO Dedicated Server" range specifically in response to these environmental concerns. This new range of servers has 2 main objectives:
The new ECO Dedicated Servers are the result of a study conducted by Amen’s engineers in our Data-Centres on more than 3500 of our clients‘dedicated servers. This study particularly showed that the Disk space used by our clients is in average between 20GB to 30GB. As a consequence, instead of setting up High-Capacity Disks that require an important amount of energy, Amen preferred a more environmental solution for the new ECO range of servers, with Hard Drives adapted to the actual needs of Web Hosting (from 80GB to160GB) and with a more compact shape enabling thus a significant reduction in energy consumption. Regarding the processors, we have opted for Energy Efficient Dual Core AMD processors, with frequencies from 1,8GHz to 2,1GHz per core. As a result, the new ECO models now provide the best Performance/Energy Consumption ratio. It is important to underline that the performance of a server is directly related to the processors memory; therefore Amen offers a wide range of configurations from 1GB to 3GB de RAM. As far as the format of the server is concerned, we have chosen a compact and ventilated one given that it directly affects the energy consumption. The new design enables a better ventilation and heat dissipation and thus plays its role in the Energy Efficient process through a reduction of the air-conditioning in the Data Centres and of the CO2 emissions. The results of the study conducted by Amen to compare the ECO Dedicated servers with standard servers indicates savings in energy up to 55%, enabling thus each server to reject 632kg less of CO2 per year.
