Amenworld.com – the company that makes it simple for businesses to get started on the ‘net – presented the StartUps Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award at a dazzling award ceremony in London.

The award celebrates the achievements of the best UK start-up business owner under 30, and this year's winner was 18-year-old, Fraser Doherty from Edinburgh.

Doherty started modestly with a couple of pounds in his pocket - bought some fruit and sugar and made a few jars of jam using his Gran’s recipe. He then started selling at farmers’ markets and local delicatessens, and not before long he’d struck a six-figure deal with Waitrose to produce 120,000 jars of jam. Tesco’s been next in line to stock Doherty’s SuperJam.

Amenworld’s collaboration with StartUps to honour this young achiever has proved fruitful for SuperJam.

Andrew Fassnidge, Amenworld’s UK Marketing Manager who presented Doherty’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the StartUps Awards said, “Fraser Doherty’s success story is not a fairy-tale; it’s as achievable as it is inspirational. Innovation is key to his success and he’s exploring new ways to sell to his customers.”

He further adds, “Keeping with the trend of businesses selling online, Doherty has set up an online shop at www.superjam.co.uk to make SuperJam available to his customers directly. He can now serve a much larger market. Businesses today need to be on the ‘net. It’s key to a business’s success and effective operation. By setting up an e-shop, entrepreneurs can interact with and sell to customers efficiently.”

Fraser Doherty, Britain’s youngest professional jam-maker says, “I am delighted to receive the Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award from an organization such as Amenworld.com. Amenworld.com encourages start-ups and small businesses to develop and grow their business and what easier way to grow your market than going online. SuperJam has recently set up an online shop and there’s already been a definite growth in our business.”

In the esteemed panel of judges to select the recipients were famous names such as Karen Darby - founder of SimplySwitch, Tim Campbell - winner of The Apprentice 2005, Alex Tew – founder of MillionDollar Homepage, Sahar Hashemi -founder of Coffee Republic and many more.

The award ceremony was held on the 31st October 2007 at the Royal Garden Hotels in London.
